The Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission (OCAC) was placed directly under National Government authority when it was founded in 1926. For the past 80 years, the ROC's overseas Compatriot affairs work has kept pace with the national situation and the evolving state of Chinese communities overseas. While the OCAC has continued to innovate and improve its programs and policies as it keeps up with the times, the ROC government's care and concern for overseas Chinese has remained unchanged with a constant commitment to overseas service.
Our service office is located in London and belongs to the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. The focus of contemporary overseas Chinese affairs work is on providing diversified services, including liaison services aimed at overseas Chinese and their organisations, overseas cultural and educational work, assistance to overseas businesses, guidance to overseas students returning for further studies, overseas compatriot certification services, correspondence education, and overseas news broadcasting and information dissemination, etc. Wherever they may live, all overseas Chinese and Taiwanese who identify with the ROC, love Taiwan, and support the government can receive our services.
