From 9-11 May, Representative Lin led the Taiwanese delegation to attend the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Annual Meeting and Business Forum in Nicosia, Cyprus.
On the opening day, Representative Lin and EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti signed an agreement to transfer USD 2,000,000 from the government of Taiwan to the TaiwanBusiness EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund. The Representative also delivered a speech at the annual awards ceremony of the EBRD Trade Facilitation Programme, in which he congratulated award recipients and reiterated Taiwan’s longstanding commitment to the EBRD.
Throughout the following days, Representative Lin held a series of bilateral meetings with counterpart delegation leaders from across the EBRD’s countries of operation to exchange views on how Taiwan, in partnership with the EBRD, can strengthen economic ties and technical cooperation with their countries.
The Taiwanese delegation was comprised of 14 delegates from governmental agencies and NGOs, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and the Financial Supervisory Commission. A number of Taiwanese companies and banks also participated, including Bank of Taiwan, First Commercial Bank, Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection, AFTA Technology, Intelligent Transportation Society of Taiwan, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, Engineering Industry Globalization Office and International Climate Development Institute.
