Taiwan’s RTI Radio Network visits BBC World Service and Radio 4

Li-chung Shao, the President of Radio Taiwan International, visited the Chinese department of BBC’s World Service and BBC Radio 4 on 9 May. RTI is Taiwan’s national radio station, and broadcasts Taiwan news throughout the world in 13 languages. This visit was to exchange views with BBC radio service.
Shao was accompanied by Bihui Chiu, Programme Coordinator of the German-language service, and Hsiu-Miao, Senior Coordinator of International Affairs.
The meeting was hosted by Denis Nowlan, the network manager of Radio 4. Mr. Nowlan briefed the Taiwanese guests on the function and history of BBC Radio 4, the demographics of the audience, together with their listening habits. After the meeting, Mr. Nowlan conducted a tour of the stereo studio at Radio 4.
During the vist, Shao noted the experience of visiting BBC’s World Service and Radio 4 is very important to RTI, as its mission is similar in that it broadcasts Taiwan’s news throughout the world. He also noted that RTI would be more than happy to share its wealth of experience of serving the Chinese-speaking audience around the world with the BBC.
