10+10, an anthology by ten established and ten emerging film directors from Taiwan, will have its UK premiere in the 56th London Film Festival on 17 and 18 October at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in central London.
Initiated by the world-renowned director Hou Hsiao-Hsien to celebrate the centenary of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the film comprises a variety of 5 minute mini-documentaries, mini-fictions and mini-dramas by Taiwan’s top 20 directors. They expand on the theme of “the uniqueness of Taiwan,” including a sci-fi thriller comedy, political sarcasm, touching stories, and dark comedies. The film was highly praised by international media when premiered in the Berlin International Film Festival in February. Tony Rayns, the notable film critic of Asian cinema in the UK, comments that “portmanteau movies popped up right across East Asia this year, and this Taiwanese anthology is one of the best.”
The London Film Festival is one of the leading international film festivals in Europe. This year it will take place from 10 to 21 October, screening 225 fiction and documentary features, plus 111 live action and animated shorts from 68 countries. Tickets for 10+10 will be available to the public starting 24 September. For further information, please check below.
