The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) was established by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan to encourage international students to undertake Mandarin courses in Taiwan, providing successful applicants with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and promoting mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.
The HES programme enables UK nationals to study Mandarin Chinese at recognised language centres in Taiwan for periods ranging from two months to nine months. Recipients will receive a monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000 (approx. £660).
Completed scholarship applications must be submitted electronically to the British Association for Chinese Studies (BACS). An application form, further details and full guidelines are available on the BACS website (from Feb. 1st onwards):
