Ambassador Liu recently attended a ceremony at the Hua Nan bank, to co-open the bank’s new premises in the heart of the City of London.
The Hua Nan bank, founded in 1919, is one of Taiwan’s oldest and largest banks. In a speech delivered at the event, Ambassador Liu highlighted the many successes of the bank throughout its 96 years of operation and lauded its contributions in bolstering Taiwan’s reputation as a major player in global finance.
The Ambassador also praised the bank’s commitments to enhancing the financial co-operation between both Taiwan and the United Kingdom since 1998, when the bank established its first London branch.
Particular credit was paid to Mr Ming-Cheng Lin, the Chairman of the bank, for seeing the bank expand its customer base to over 6 million and obtain a promising credit rating from a leading agency.
The Hua Nan Bank’s continued presence in the UK, can be seen as a further affirmation of Taiwan’s success in establishing an increased business presence in the country.
